Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) Friends club was established in
1972 A.D to promote football in Kopundole. At that time the club was
started with a motto of “better health for the people of Kopundole
through sport”.

It remained only a football club that every now and then organized
certain social activities like reading room facilities, blood
donations, bicycle rallies against drug abuse etc.

Only since late 80’s, it has implemented different training activities
for women and children. It is also running a clinic and a pathology
laboratory which are very popular among the people of kopundole. The
club has come a long way since 1972 until now from sports club to a
sport-cum-social-club.

NIBL Friends club, as mentioned earlier, was initially formed as
football team to participate district level tournaments. The club has
been a winner in such tournaments since time immemorial. However, it
entered the prestigious national league tournament since 1972.

From that day the club has been one of the most favorite football
clubs until today. The club has participated in almost all national
level and regional level football tournament.

Few remarkable achievements of the club in the national level
tournament are listed as follows:

Winner of Tribhuvan Challenge Shield Knockout tournament for three
consecutive years
Winner of Mahendra Gold Cup, Birgunj two times
Runners-up of Martyrs’ Memorial League tournament
Runners-up of Tillotama Gold Cup
Runners-up of Itahari Gold Cup

Friends Club has produced more than 200 national football players till date.
